MARION COUNTY, Florida (January 23, 2018) – Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Major Crimes detectives arrested Nathail Eugene Harrington (DOB: 02/22/1971), aka “Scooter,” after he shot a 58-year old man during a confrontation on the evening of Saturday, January 20, 2018. The victim was shot in the chest by Harrington, and has since been treated and released from a local hospital.

During the investigation, detectives found that the victim drove to a residence located at the 17700th block of NW 66th Terrace in Reddick in an effort to drop off a family member at the incident location. At that time, Harrington approached the victim and threatened to shoot him. The victim left and later came back to the residence to pick up the family member he had just dropped off. Harrington then approached the victim’s vehicle and began shooting at him multiple times. The victim fled from the suspect and later notified law enforcement and went to the hospital for his  injuries.

Evidence of the shooting was discovered at the scene and at the victim’s vehicle. Witnesses on scene also corroborated the victim’s statements. Harrington was located by detectives on Monday, January 22nd, and was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Weapon or Ammo by a Convicted Felon. Further review of Harrington’s criminal history uncovered that he’s been charged with 25 felony charges, with six convictions, with the most recent conviction being in 2012 for Sale of Cocaine in Alachua County. He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on no bond.
