OCALA, Fla. (Dec. 13, 2017) – The Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force will host “REACH Across the Table,” a gathering of community members, Thursday, Jan. 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Silver Springs State Park, 5656 E Silver Springs Blvd. This event will provide information on community concerns that impact our ability to accept each other’s differences and come together as one. The theme for this inaugural community event is “trust.”

In order to guide the conversation at the event, the Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force is requesting input from the community about obstacles that prevent us from trusting one another. Those interested are asked to complete a brief online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/2YDCWPP. This survey is open to the public and will be available until Monday, Dec. 18. Input provided for this survey will help steer the Task Force’s goals and objectives for the coming year.

“The REACH Across the Table event is intended to start a conversation about the issues that hinder our understanding and appreciation of one another,” said Kathy Crile, City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Director. “A healthy relationship and an effective dialogue are contingent upon trust. That’s where it starts. We need to trust one another if we are to have honest, effective conversations. As a community, we need to work on establishing a path toward trust. This is the reason the Task Force chose “trust” as the topic of conversation for this inaugural community event.”
