A free art demonstration by award-winning artist, Milly Sheffer will be held at the Appleton Museum of Art, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, FL 34470-5001 in the upstairs library, on Wednesday, February 13, from 12 noon – 2 pm.

Milly Sheffer is an artist working primarily in oils, but she has worked extensively in watercolor as well.  She uses a brush or palette knife, prefers to work quickly and her work is primarily ala prima (completed in one session.)  She uses strong brushstrokes, pure color, pronounced texture, a mix of pattern, accents of bold line, and the blending of colors on the canvas; rather than on her palette.

She has won numerous awards in both regional and national exhibitions, with many one and two-person shows.  Some of her work can be viewed in corporate and private collections or on her website: millysheffer.com  As an experienced teacher of drawing, painting and portraiture, she will begin teaching classes in February at the Brick City Center for the Arts in Ocala.  Although she began painting at a young age, she has an Art degree from Wheaton College and took classes at The Art Institute of Chicago and Syracuse University. She has worked with numerous acclaimed artists such as Hugo Grenville while on a trip to the United Kingdom.

We welcome those interested in learning from this great artist to come and sit in while she creates beautiful art.  There is a small fee to enter the Appleton Museum (352) 352-291-4455    For more information on this demo, please contact Rich Woy at (352) 598-9069.or visit our website: OcalaArtGroup.org or find us on facebook.com/groups/ocalaartgroup.
