Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis issued the below statement following the Senate Special Master’s report and recommendation:

“The victims with families impacted by the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School deserve justice and accountability. I disagree with the analysis contained in the non-binding recommendation; the senators will render their own independent judgement on Scott Israel. Floridians were appalled by Scott Israel’s repeated failures and expect their senators will provide the accountability that the Parkland families have sought for the past year and a half.”

The Lady Lake Chamber Nothing But Networking was held at Eaton’s Beach. Great crowd. Over fifty attended the Nothing But Networking luncheon put on by the Lady Lake Chamber. Actually it was surprising how many came right after the hurricane scare. To steal a phrase “the only thing better than the view is the food” – that is true. The people were friendly and some ground work was laid to do business in the near future. Thank you Lady Lake Chamber! Halloween is fast approaching, and while children anticipate the annual celebration of fun and fantasy, it’s a good time for the rest of us to think about safety.  As part of our ongoing commitment to protect children, all of us at the Lady Lake Police Department will be passing along Halloween safety advice.

Children should be instructed not to eat any treats until they’re back at home and mom or dad has inspected them.  Parents should make sure that candy wrappers are sealed.  Fruit or homemade items should be thoroughly examined.  If in doubt, throw it out.

When little ghosts and goblins take to the streets, the biggest threat they face is motor vehicle traffic – something for parents and drivers to keep in mind.

For motorists, extreme caution is the rule for Halloween night.  Expect children to run across the street, coming out of nowhere, oblivious to traffic.  Children should be accompanied by adults when trick-or-treating.  A responsible grown-up will be the person with a flashlight, leading the way when there’s a need to cross the street.  It’s always best to stay close to home and to visit neighbors and friends that you know.  Make sure children only approach homes that are well lit. Treats should be handed out at the door so that youngsters don’t have to enter the homes of strangers. Continue reading

Recently all Democratic presidential candidates attended a steak fry in Des Moines! On the other hand one might get burned at the steak if what is coming out is true!

Someone ask me who was the best President so far???

Obama was good at paying other country for doing jobs (defense) that they did not do and then some burned our flag.

Trump held them accountable and did not pay those who did were not park of (defense) National Security.

Obama did not donate any of his salary, his wife had a staff of 23!

Trump donated all of his salary and his wife has a staff of 4!

I saw a cartoon, I think it was peanut… A little girl says “Do all fairy tales start with Once upon a time? The little boys answer was no, many of them begin with “If I am elected,  promise ……” a great example of what has gone on in the pas ten years. Things have gotten better in the last several years.

A joke off the internet. Now don’t get serious on me!

The guy said I was ask if I was happy having a racist president?  He said no of course not we replaced him with Donald Trump!

Trump is creating tremendous shortages…By closing the border there is a shortage in Meth, Heroin, MS-13 and new undocumented voters.

Until next month!

IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT?

Apparently, a Washington intelligence officer reported that President Trump talked to the leader of Ukraine about the business dealings of Former Democrat Vice President, Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Because of its conflicts with Russia, the Ukraine receives millions of American Tax-Dollars in aid.

Its interesting that VP Joe Biden is rumored to have stopped a corruption prosecution against a company that hired his son Hunter Biden.

By his own admission, VP Joe Biden made at least a dozen visits to Kyiv, Ukraine when he was in the White House.

Questions are being asked about his role in the dismissal of the country’s prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin back in 2016. Continue reading

An angry crowd packed the Savannah Center Villages when residents of Sumter Villages and other areas came to voice their opinions about a 25% tax increase. County Administrator Bradley Arnold said Budget increases include 34 million for repair of Morse and Buena Vista Blvd. and other area problems. The total tax increase: 250 million. The taxation meeting was held September 24th. They ask all residents to attend.

The residents are not happy having the Tax increase rammed down their throat. Residents have said they can only change the budget by voting to change Commissioners. It is said by some the Commissioners have close ties. Three Commissioners are Villages Residents. One resident accused the Commissioners and the developers of colluding.

There is no question the road work needs to be done but the question is who should pay for it. Maybe the engineers of The Villages did not plan for 50,000 plus homes and traffic from those homes. I wonder what the Snowbirds will think? It will probably affect the sale of new homes???

Higher taxes??  Will this happen in other Counties?? What do you think?  tloury@att.net

Lady Lake Chamber holds a Breakfast Networking event. It is held at the Outback restaurant the 3rd Wednesday of the month. There were thirty attending and a lot of networking went on. Picture by Janet Fraley.

Pictured is Kailah Netherclift who was with TomL Publishing until she started traveling and teaching. Kailah wrote a column each month about her travels. She is a very accomplished writer. We knew she would emerge some day in a great job. I see on LinkedIn that Kailah’s has been  promoted to Vice President of Clark Brothers Investments. She is also the daughter of Wendy Netherclift who is our GM and a long timed friend. Congratulations!

What used to be a General Store in the early 1900s is certainly not anything approaching the modern grocery store or department store of today!  Entertaining music by Banjo player: “Mr. Blu Skies” – Marc Rhodes and Ukulele players: “Fun with Uke’s Players” – Peggy Lisnek.
