Chief Graham shared to the OBL Breakfast group some surprising statistics about the effects of Opiate addiction in our community. Opiates were the number one cause of deaths, 70, in Marion County in 2017. With just a few weeks into 2018, Marion County has already recorded 34 overdoses and 9 deaths. The Ocala Police Department has created a new task force to help with this epidemic. He called on us, as members of the community, to support treatment facilities and educate others on the use of prescription drugs.
