LADY LAKE – The Town of Lady Lake is honored to name Steven W. Huntas interim Chief of the Lady Lake Police Department. He will officially join the Town on May 8.

“We are thrilled to welcome Interim Chief Hunt to the Lady Lake Police Department,” said Town Manager Bill Lawrence. “I am confident that with his experience, skill set and character, he will bring a fresh perspective and strong leadership to the department.”

A native of Maine and current resident of Eustis, interim Chief Hunt has over 35 years of law enforcement experience and 20 years as a police supervisor.

He began his law enforcement career at just 18 years old in his hometown of Veazie, Maine. He later joined the City of Bangor Maine Police Department, where he spent a majority of his career, retiring in 2016 as a Lieutenant who supervised 12 patrol officers and two sergeants. During his tenure with the department, he was also assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) for ten years.

Most recently, he served as a Detective for the State of Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Investigative & Forensic Services, Bureau of Insurance. Continue reading
