Well my wife and I just celebrated 62nd years. I don’t deserve any of the credit. I’m the only guy I know that prayed for amnesty. Ha! Just kidding. We eloped, got in my 57 Chevy and ran to North Carolina. Got a phisical exam at an old building where a very old dOct er was, he looked at my ear checked my girlfriends (wife) heart three times, I wonder about him. Receive the paper work and went to the preacheers house. By the way we found out about the dOct or while asking a waitress at a diner. My wifes Father and Mother would not except us it would be years later I saw them and talked to them and the rest was history. He backed me up on several scarey ocasions. He died in my arms at age 90.

I am very sad that State Senater Dennis Baxley is retiring from office. You can see his good bye message in this paper. He has been a special friend to me for many years. The good news is he will be home in Ocala where he has business interest and his family. We all love and respect him! Dennis let’s do some projects together?

I hope everyone enjoyed their recent Labor Day festivities. Labor Day became a national holiday when Congress passed the bill, and President Grover Cleveland signed it into law, in 1894.
Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated with parades, picnics, barbecues, speeches and other public gatherings. Over time, it has also come to mark the unofficial end of summer with many people taking advantage of the long weekend for vacations and family get-togethers. Unless you were born with a huge trust fund and don’t need to “labor”, we are all laborers.
We work to get the money we need to provide for ourselves and our families. Unfortunately, the elites and their minions in DC are not working with us but working against us in that endeavor. They are working feverishly to prop up a failed income/payroll tax system that harms all working people while at the same time giving them control over our lives.
The elites tell us:
- That we are being irresponsible by not saving enough money for retirement while they continue to discourage us by taxing our savings and investment incomes.
- That if we need more money we should simply work harder while they continue to prop up a tax system that discourages hard work by “rewarding “ that harder work with higher taxes.
- That they are working to help American businesses and save American jobs while they refuse to replace a tax system that favors imports and sends our jobs overseas.
- That the federal deficit and federal debt are nothing to worry about even though they lead to inflation that robs working people of their purchasing power.

With all of the growth in the community, I am often asked about more retail options. We have seen thousands of houses and apartments built in the last few years and added millions of square feet of industrial space. However, I understand the interest of everyone in seeing new and additional retail options in our community.
Good news! More retail is on the way. In fact, I have been saying for some time that 2024 will be the Year of Retail in the Ocala Metro. It may not necessarily make as big a splash but when one looks back on the year, I think they will be surprised to realize how many additional retailers have opened. I would like to share about three new businesses opening soon: a retailer, a service, and a restaurant.
By mid-Oct ober lululemon will have opened their doors in Paddock Mall. The well known national athletic brand with more than 700 locations worldwide is best known for their yoga pants. The Ocala location will be the first in Florida between Jacksonville and Orlando. The store is opening in the JC Penny wing at the Paddock Mall which has a great story in itself. At a time when many have been proclaiming the death of the mall, the Paddock Mall is boasting near 100% occupancy with record visitors and sales per sq foot.
