The First Friday Art Walk returns to downtown Ocala Friday, March 2 from 6 to 9 p.m.
OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2018) – The First Friday Art Walk returns to downtown Ocala Friday, March 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include the following special performances and activities:
- 6 to 9 p.m. – Live music by Stephen Lopez on the main event stage located at the downtown square near the gazebo.
- 7 p.m. – Contemporary dance performance by West Port High School’s MCCA (Marion County Center for the Arts) Dance Program.
- 8 p.m. – Belly dancing performance by the Cairo Dancers
- Free hands-on art activities for all ages will be provided throughout the event by the Appleton Museum of Art, Hospice of Marion County, Interfaith Emergency Services, Painting with a Twist, Marion County Public Library, Karate America Ocala, Animis Foundation and the Discovery Center.
PARKLAND, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott made the following statement regarding the FBI’s admission that they failed to take action after receiving information on January 5, 2018, regarding “[Nikolas] Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting.”
Governor Scott said, “The FBI’s failure to take action against this killer is unacceptable. The FBI has admitted that they were contacted last month by a person who called to inform them of Cruz’s ‘desire to kill people,’ and ‘the potential of him conducting a school shooting.’ Continue reading
OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2018) – The City of Ocala has implemented changes to its metered parking program downtown. These recommended modifications were made in response to feedback from citizens and downtown business owners and are intended to create more available on-street parking adjacent to, or in close proximity of, downtown businesses, according to City staff.
Adjustments to the parking program include:
- All parking meters are now programmed for an additional hour of parking, for a total of three-hours.
- Passport Parking has implemented three-hour parking for the pay-by-phone app.
- Android Pay and Apple Pay have been installed on all parking meters.
- An additional 11 free parking spaces have been created by removing meters on N Magnolia Avenue (between NE Second Street and NE Third Street) and on SW First Avenue, south of Fort King Street.
- Installation of 39 free on-street parking spaces along sections of NE First Avenue and N Magnolia Avenue.
