Ocala, FL — The stage is set for the 11th Annual Youth Business Plan Competition, an event that celebrates the innovative spirit of Marion County’s high school students. Aspiring young entrepreneurs will gather on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM at the Power Plant Business Incubator (405 SE Osceola Avenue, Ocala, FL 34471) to present their big ideas and turn them into reality.
Hosted by the Ocala Metro Chamber & Economic Partnership (CEP), this event has become a cornerstone for youth development and entrepreneurship in the region. Each year, high school students compete to pitch their business plans to a panel of local business leaders and mentors, vying for support, guidance, and potential investment to bring their concepts to life.
“This competition isn’t just about winning prizes; it’s about creating opportunities for young people to dream big and develop real-world skills,” said Heather Shubirg, Chief Growth Officer at Ocala Metro CEP. “We’re proud to provide a platform where students can connect with mentors and leaders in our business community.”
Turning Dreams into Reality
The competition aims to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and leadership among the next generation of business innovators. Participants will present detailed business plans that address market needs, showcase innovative solutions, and demonstrate the entrepreneurial mindset critical for success in today’s economy.
Sponsors, including Raney’s, Campus USA Credit Union, and Colen Built Development, play a pivotal role in supporting this initiative.
Why It Matters
In addition to encouraging innovation, the event creates opportunities for networking and mentorship. Students gain access to industry leaders, feedback on their business strategies, and insight into what it takes to succeed in the competitive world of entrepreneurship. Past participants have gone on to launch thriving businesses, attributing much of their early success to the experience gained during the competition.
