Ronald Angelo Maiellaro, 75, of Ocala, FL, passed away on August 26,2021.
Ron was born on August 6, 1946 in Auburn, NY to Angelo and Esther Maiellaro. He was in the Navy Reserves and was on active duty during the Vietnam War, serving as a Radarman Second Class Petty Officer. After earning a Masters degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Education Administration, he spent most of his career teaching General Science and Chemistry at Beaver River Central School in Beaver Falls, NY. He then was the developer of Computer Services through BOCES in Glenfield, NY, teaching teachers how to use computers and how to incorporate them into the classroom. In 1988, Ron moved to Ballston Lake, NY and was the Director of Information Services for the Shenendehowa Central School District before becoming the Assistant Principal at Coda Junior High. In 1995, Ron left education and moved to Ocala, FL and working with his wife, Elaine, they started their own business, Square Routes, Inc., an expedited trucking company.
Upon retirement in 2007, Ron, with Elaine, became very involved with the Fair Tax movement, becoming President of the Florida Fair Tax Education Association. He also enjoyed golf, traveling and cruising, and visiting family.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine DeRito Maiellaro of Marcellus, NY. He is also survived by daughter Deborah (Jim) Stine, son Mark (Mary) Maiellaro, son Derek (Stephanie) Maiellaro, and daughter Hiroko Land, as well as his brothers Robert (Geneva) Maiellaro and Edward (Rachel) Maiellaro and sister Sylvia Maiellaro, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Ramon (Ruth) Maiellaro and his parents, Angelo and Esther Maiellaro.
Ron was not just a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he was a patriot, “Captain Ron”, a friend, a teacher and a mentor to many. He had a great sense of humor, had a memorable laugh, fiercely loved his family and his country, and was always positive. He will be missed dearly by all.
Ronald Meiallaro final resting place is at the Florida National Cemetery.
No matter where in Florida you may live, keeping our children and students safe is a community responsibility. There are many guidelines put in place to ensure that our students arrive to and from school safely every single day such as designated crosswalks, School Crossing Guards or Community Service Aides, seat belt laws, and so on. But one law that is absolutely crucial and yet often gets ignored is, “ALWAYS” stopping behind a school bus.
Drivers need to remember that Florida law prohibits passing, in either direction, a school bus that is stopped with its “STOP” sign extended and flashing red lights activated on a two-way street or highway. If the highway is divided by a raised barrier or an unpaved median at least five feet wide you do not have to stop if you are moving in the opposite direction of the bus. Anyone caught passing a stopped school bus or speeding in a school zone can expect to get a costly fine – the Lady Lake Police Department simply will not tolerate violations that could harm a child. We also take into account which side of the bus you chose when violating the law. While neither side is necessarily “safer,” the amount of danger to kids sharply increases if you pass the bus on the right-hand side, as this is the side that the children use to step off of the bus, and therefore are more likely to be struck by your car. These pictures seem to solve the question “were the unauthorized cameras in Lady Lake”? The answer is yes the pictures show proof of it. The next questions is who did the installation’s, Flock Security did! who where they surveilling, for what reason were they surveilling, did the Lady Lake Town Council know about it? The answer is no the Lady Lake Town Council did not know about it !
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the camera’s and how they got authorized to be installed. They were not authorized by the Lake County Commission. I first heard about these cameras by a resident in Lady Lake. They said they have seen them all over. I probe and looked around for more sources of information. I started asking questions. I ran into many dead ends. Most residents did not know what they were for or who put them there. Continue reading
THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Wednesday the 25th, Governor Ron DeSantis opened a new monoclonal antibody treatment site at The Villages. This treatment site will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has the capacity to serve more than 300 patients per day.
