Tom Loury is the owner of the TOML Publishing LLC and produces the award winning newspapers The Lady Lake Magazine, Village Spectator, Ocala DownTown and Seniors Voice of Ocala each month.
And that Tom posts at least one picture of a chamber event on his front page each month, helping to build brand awareness for our chamber?

Picture is Walt left & Eric, right of Walt’s Brakes and More. They are family owned and have operated since 1965. They have three generations working the business with ten employees, twenty bays, three diesel techs. Walt’s Brakes and More had started out as a brake shop in Miami, Florida. Walt senior designed brakes systems for school buses and semis. They would later expand to Ocala where they call home today.
They have a motorhome division under roof for repairing and storage. Drop by and see Walt. He will welcome you. Walt’s favorite words are “Bring it in”. That is what he has always said to me. They do a good job and he has always been fair.
PALS Auto Repair hosted a Networking event for the Ocala Business Leaders, some customers and friends. They gave a tour of their shop. There was entertainment, games, door prizes, great food and drink. The Ocala Business Leaders is a business networking group that has been inviting business people to breakfast on Wednesday morning for many years. They share information weekly. The club and the breakfast invitation is for open categories. One business per category. For more info call 804-1223.

The Annual senior Fishing Derby was a great success. The weather was great, the people were friendly, there were plenty of door prizes and the food was great. The Senior Fishing Derby is put on by the Ocala Parks and Recreation Department. Buses from the local senior living homes bring people to picnic and fish and seniors that live on their own attend and have a good time.

I am excited to announce that we are now able to offer Summer Programming at our Dunnellon Club. The Dunnellon Community jumped into action and quickly raised nearly $20,000 needed to fund the program.
The Silver Springs Shores Club will remain closed for Summer programming.
The Ocala Club currently has 85 Members enrolled for Summer and may add more as financial support from the Community continues.
Frank Deluca, Ocala Sunset Rotary, Ocala Business Leaders, Nobility Homes, Diane Doane, Hamlet Construction and many others have contributed to the Club since the announcement of limited Summer Programming.
I am so proud of our community and the way that they have worked together tackle the immediate needs of the Club. It will be important for the Community to continue to support The Boys & Girls Club to ensure that we will always be here for our youth.

OCALA, Fla. – In recognition of National Electrical Safety Month, Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) is urging residents and businesses to review important electric safety measures that can prevent electrically related fatalities, injuries and property loss before, during and after severe weather or natural disasters.
“Storms and natural disasters create many hazards, including electrical hazards that can be life-threatening. We advise all Ocala residents and business owners to treat electricity with extreme caution before, during and after these types of events,” said Mike Poucher, Director, Ocala Electric Utility. “With hurricane season just around the corner, now is the time to have a licensed electrician address any potential electrical hazards around your home or business.”
