Picture one is taken across from CVS on 441 Lady Lake. The unauthorized camera black pole on left still there but Camera gone.
Picture two is taken on CR 25 near Grand Oaks Resort. The camera pole is still there on the left in the background, camera gone.
These pictures seem to solve the question “were the unauthorized cameras in Lady Lake”? The answer is yes the pictures show proof of it. The next questions is who did the installation’s, Flock Security did! who where they surveilling, for what reason were they surveilling, did the Lady Lake Town Council know about it? The answer is no the Lady Lake Town Council did not know about it !
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the camera’s and how they got authorized to be installed. They were not authorized by the Lake County Commission. I first heard about these cameras by a resident in Lady Lake. They said they have seen them all over. I probe and looked around for more sources of information. I started asking questions. I ran into many dead ends. Most residents did not know what they were for or who put them there.
I found out the reason I could not get any questions answered is because it started in Leesburg. None of the locals knew what was going on. I have been told Lake County Sheriff authorized the installation of these traffic camera’s as a pilot program to help fight crime in the area. Makes policing sense but they needed permits and approval from Lake County Commissioners. The Lake County Commissioners did not know about the method of the Crime fighting program and was very unhappy. The camera’s were ordered to be taken down. The poles that held them are still in place. Is there an effort to put them back.
The Lady Lake Town Council was not made aware of the project. As I see it’s an infringement on residents privacy. The cameras have been taken down in Lady Lake but were up through most of August. I am sure Lady Lake Town Council will be reacting to this act of anti privacy.
PS On the Flock Security website the same security company is advertising “Now Hiring” in Ocala Florida.
