Dear Friends,

My words today will be shorter than usual, but no less meaningful than in previous months. Firstly, thank you for your continued engagement and devotion to our great nation and the principles on which it was founded. Faith, family, freedom, opportunity and life itself are under attack each day from socialist radicals who want to see individual liberty and responsibility exterminated. We must continue to fight for our God-given rights for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

Recently, news out of El Paso and Dayton have confirmed again that the violence in our culture is very real, and heartbreaking. Evil men, committing evil acts is nothing new to any culture, but in our time, the ease of accessing information seems to put it directly in front of us each day. The mainstream media seems intent on amplifying these acts to as many people as they can. This violence is tragic and despicable, but using these events to gain some sort of political advantage or to influence long debated policy ideas (or, in most cases, constitutional law) is also destructive.

The call to you today is that thoughts and prayers are not useless. Coming together as Americans to condemn violence against any person, no matter their race or sex, born or unborn, can and will make a difference. Let us grieve together the violence of our culture. Our hearts will move us to action but our heads should guide us to reason in policy and law. Onward and upward!

Senator Dennis Baxley
