Ocala, FL) – The Summer Season for the Ocala Polo Club is in full swing with matches every Saturday through September at 6pm. Watch as two teams consisting of four players navigate a white ball across the field using horse power and wooden mallets. Players gallop up and down the field passing the ball to other teammates with the mission of scoring a goal. The match is broken up into periods called chukkers. Each chukker lasts seven minutes and in between chukkers, players can switch out their horses. Players can attempt to ride other players off of the ball or bump them out of the way, but two umpires oversee the game and issue fouls when someone does something that could endanger the other riders. In the end, the team with the most goals wins the match and celebrates on top of the podium! An announcer commentates the match, making it a great event to bring family and friends to especially if they have never been to a polo match before.
