Coffee n’ Cream

201 NE Cholokka Blvd.

Micanopy, FL 32667

352-466-1101

A nice Sandwich and Ice Cream Parlor. A perfect place after Antique shopping in Micanopy.

After walking through the little shops, my wife and I stopped for lunch. We ordered drinks and their specialty, Chicken Salad Sandwich served with a bag of chips. We sat outside on the porch, where they had an acoustic guitar musician as live entertainment.

It’s a good place to rest after hours of standing and shopping.  If you use the facilities, there’s a voluntary septic fee request. There’s only two food establishments in town.

Found the restaurant driving home from Gainesville. Located just outside of Ocala, this Diner understands the fundamentals of clean restaurant, great service, good food, reasonable price and friendly servers. If you like Darrell’s, you’ll LOVE Grammy’s!

Our party of four everything from pancakes, corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy and Grammy’s Special. All our orders was cooked as we ordered and tasty.

They have a complete menu, serving lunch, dinner and breakfast all day. Highly recommend this locally owned and operated restaurant!

Southern Palate

Dunnellon

This unlike any restaurant I have ever been in. Tuck away almost out of site is a little Restaurant called Southern Palate. I think there is four tables mostly take outfits. I had heard about it from a couple of people and had to drop in for lunch. At the lunch counter behind a glass was a lady stand waiting to take your order. There were four kinds of meats. Oxtail, Meat Loaf, chicken and pork Chops. I ask what is Oxtail? the lady promptly gave me a sample, it was very tasty and very tender it was like Beef Rib meat with a small amount of fat. I’m going back for that one day, The meat loaf is what I had my eye on…It was delish served with side that were very good. The Restaurant is right down town Dunnellon Fl. across the street from the police department. Not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Are open for breakfast and lunch only. try it you will like it.

The Yearling Restaurant & Cabins

14531 E County Road 325

Hawthorne, FL 32640

352-466-3999

Plan a day or overnight trip to Micanopy, FL visiting the small antique shops and one of several nearby film locations of “The Yearling” and “Doc Hollywood” movies.

The restaurant was named after Author Margret Kinnar Rawling’s book and movie “The Yearling”. The cabins located onsite, beside the restaurant and boarders “Cross Creek” also the title to one of Rawling’s many books she wrote at her home, just minutes from the restaurant.

The first step out of your car, the aromatic wood burning grill fills the air. Once you enter the rustic restaurant, bar and museum,  you’re greeted with the friendliest staff, knowledgeable of the rich history of the area. Another surprise is the variety of local native taxidermied animals, including a 15 foot alligator.

Celebrating our friend Joe’s 87th Birthday. We ordered beverages, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Pickles and Conch Fritters appetizers.

The entrees ordered at our table was Chicken Breast, Grilled Grouper, Grilled Shrimp, Catfish Fillets, Shrimp and Grits. The waitress recommend the Pork Loin, grilled on an open flame as most of the entrees. The marination, seasoned rubbed loin was served hot, juicy, tender with a light smoked aroma. The pork loin is the best I’ve had anywhere!

We had choice of baked potatoes, okra & tomatoes, collard greens, side salad and cheese grits sides. The dinner was topped with a slice of sour orange pie, similar to Key Lime but a sour orange flavor.

Highly recommend  the scenic drive, fabulous dinner experience, friendly service and history, The Yearling offers.
