OCALA, Fla. (July 11, 2017) – The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host a public meeting Wednesday, July 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Discovery Center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave., regarding the Letty Towles Dog Park, 2299 SE 32nd Ave.

This public meeting will serve as an open forum for community members to discuss ideas and suggestions for park improvements and programming. Information will also be available for those interested in becoming a “Bark” Ambassador, as well as other volunteer opportunities at the dog park.

Letty Towles Dog Park is temporarily closed due to the H3N2 Canine Influenza Virus and is expected to remain closed for the next four to six weeks. This public meeting will not be a forum to discuss the H3N2 virus. To learn more about the H3N2 virus, please visit hospitals.vetmed.ufl.edu/canine-influenza/.

“With this temporary [park] closure in effect, City staff will utilize this opportunity to make improvements to the park,” said Julie Johnson, Assistant Director, City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department. “When the park re-opens to the public, we plan to implement fresh upgrades for a better experience for our furry friends, as well as their owners.”
