Concerts will take place every Friday, June 15 through Aug. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Webb Field at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Complex, 1510 NW Fourth St.

OCALA, Fla. (May 14, 2018) – The Marion Cultural Alliance (MCA), in partnership with the City of Ocala, is excited to unveil the first half of the lineup for the 2018 Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series. The series is sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a national funder of creative placemaking that empowers communities to inject new life into underused public spaces. Through free, outdoor concerts, the Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series will present ten free, family-friendly concerts to the public this summer.

The Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series will take place at Webb Field at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Complex located at 1510 NW Fourth St. Concerts will take place every Friday, June 15 through Aug. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts, which will have an open lawn setting. Gates open at 6 p.m. and admission is free.

The 2018 Levitt AMP Ocala Music Series will feature a diverse lineup of high-caliber talent spanning musical genres such as blues, jazz, funk, soul, gypsy swing, Latin, roots/Americana and R&B. The first half of the 2018 series will feature performances from the following headliners and opening acts:

Headliners: (in no particular order)

  • Squirrel Nut Zippers
  • Gedeon, Luke & the People
  • Orchestra Fuego
  • Velvet Caravan
  • Selwyn Birchwood

Opening Acts: (in no particular order)

  • Alex & Jenny Duo
  • Shema Shine
  • Jeff and the Jarretts
  • Ecliff Telford
  • Eduardo Fuentes

Information about the second half of the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

This event will feature craft and non-profit booths, food trucks, novelty food vendors, in addition to beer and wine, which will be available for purchase. The Summer Break Spot will provide free dinners for those ages 18 and under. Each concert will also spotlight a local non-profit organization, who will conduct a special activity during the event’s intermission.

“This free concert series is a great opportunity for everyone to gather on the big green lawn at Webb Field,” said Jaye Baillie, Executive Director, Marion Cultural Alliance. “During last year’s series, we saw young and old dancing, swaying and singing side by side.”
