Dear Friends,

It is a great day to live in the Free State of Florida! Thank you, Florida voters, for a record turnout in the 2022 General Election. Floridians overwhelmingly confirmed that we should continue to be the state that protects life, confirms parental rights, combats “wokeism” in schools and makes sure that our elections are secure and fair. Because of you, Florida will remain a stronghold for the Republican Party and serve has a beacon of liberty for the rest of the United States.

November’s election results in a super majority for the both the Florida House and Florida Senate. In total, the Florida Senate Republicans picked up four seats and now hold a 28-12 advantage. Incoming Senate President Kathleen Passidomo will be completely unimpeded as she rolls out a new agenda for the next two years. She has asked me to serve as her right hand as President Pro Tempore, which I have humbly accepted. This leadership team is working to do what is best for Florida families. Key among those is protecting things like faith, family, freedom, opportunity and life.

Nationally, Florida delivered four more seats to the Republican Party in the U.S. Congress. Depending on the outcome of a few outstanding elections (more on that below) in other states, Florida may have single handedly delivered a majority to Republicans in Washington D.C and ousted Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, once and for all!

Quick note on elections. As of this writing, there are still dozens of elections results in states like Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and California where votes are still being counted. If a state like Florida, with 22 million residents, can turn out elections results in 24-48 hours, then these other states have no excuse. This is unacceptable and residents of those states deserve better.

The next column will come from our desk in Tallahassee as we begin the organization process for the 2023 Legislative Session. During the time, we will hold procedural votes and work out committee assignments. A Special Session on the insurance crises is slated to take place too. Looking forward to sharing more on that and all that we are accomplishing on behalf of Florida’s families.

Onward & Upward,

Senator Dennis Baxley
