The Annual senior Fishing Derby was a great success. The weather was great, the people were friendly, there were plenty of door prizes and the food was great. The Senior Fishing Derby is put on by the Ocala Parks and Recreation Department. Buses from the local senior living homes bring people to picnic and fish and seniors that live on their own attend and have a good time.

I am excited to announce that we are now able to offer Summer Programming at our Dunnellon Club. The Dunnellon Community jumped into action and quickly raised nearly $20,000 needed to fund the program.
The Silver Springs Shores Club will remain closed for Summer programming.
The Ocala Club currently has 85 Members enrolled for Summer and may add more as financial support from the Community continues.
Frank Deluca, Ocala Sunset Rotary, Ocala Business Leaders, Nobility Homes, Diane Doane, Hamlet Construction and many others have contributed to the Club since the announcement of limited Summer Programming.
I am so proud of our community and the way that they have worked together tackle the immediate needs of the Club. It will be important for the Community to continue to support The Boys & Girls Club to ensure that we will always be here for our youth.

OCALA, Fla. – In recognition of National Electrical Safety Month, Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) is urging residents and businesses to review important electric safety measures that can prevent electrically related fatalities, injuries and property loss before, during and after severe weather or natural disasters.
“Storms and natural disasters create many hazards, including electrical hazards that can be life-threatening. We advise all Ocala residents and business owners to treat electricity with extreme caution before, during and after these types of events,” said Mike Poucher, Director, Ocala Electric Utility. “With hurricane season just around the corner, now is the time to have a licensed electrician address any potential electrical hazards around your home or business.”

CELEBRATING MOTHER NATURE AT MOM’S PARK!
Memories of Missing Smiles, Inc. (M.O.M.S.) was founded by two mothers that lost sons in separate automobile accidents in 2008.
December 2009, M.O.M.S. received permission from Ocala City council to locate this Memorial Park on a portion of Ocala’s Jervey Gantt Park. On January 24, 2010, M.O.M.S. broke ground on the park. On September 24, 2011 the Memories of Missing Smiles Children’s Memorial Park and Reflection Pond was established!
Today, M.O.M.’s Park is open to the public and provides a serene, tranquil space in which everyone can go and enjoy the beauty of the park and the precious memories of the children who are honored here.
