As I See It

January 1st 2019 – Happy New Year!

I’m not a big fan of lame-jokes, but why not start 2019 with a chuckle (or maybe a laugh?)

-Is your cup half-full or half-empty? – With a half-cup of hot toddy – Who cares?

-They say ‘Always start the New Year off on the right foot’. But I’m left-footed!

-Is it a ‘New Year’ if it’s just the same as the last one?

-It’s always dumb to lie to yourself – But New Year’s resolutions are the exception. Continue reading

Immigrants -vs- Invaders!

Univision, Judicial Watch and others report that many ‘Middle Easterners’ are in the caravan. In fact, the President of Guatemala claims to have arrested over 100 of them.

One source alleges that about 20% or approximately 44 million of the world’s international immigrants live in the United States.

Already, in the USA this year over a half million people have been detained for violating US borders in the South-Western States and that number continues to rise.

The vast majority are from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Continue reading

Who said “Restricting immigration is offensive, and contrary to American values”? Most media outlets label anyone who disagrees with them a ‘xenophobic’.

So, just because I disagree with you, I have a ‘phobia?’

Fact is that the law says “An alien is inadmissible if they are “likely to become a public charge”.

Doesn’t that mean that it’s ‘legal’ to stop the current invasion of the United States? Of course the argument is not new. It was way back in 1790 that James Madison said something like, “Legal immigration is intended to ‘increase the population’, but only if they add to the strength and wealth of America”. He said, “America should welcome the immigrant who can assimilate, but exclude the immigrant who doesn’t ‘fit in”

The (Legal) population of the United States of America includes just about every color and culture found anywhere in the world. So any ‘legal’ immigrant can ‘fit in’ if they have the determination to become acceptably ‘Americanized’. Continue reading

Do we have a misunderstanding of the First Amendment which guarantees ‘free speech’?

A County Property Appraiser in Florida asked, “Show me a successful Moslem country?” He has been immediately denounced by the media and others as a ‘Xenophobic Racist’ (I didn’t know that ‘Moslem’ was a ‘race’).

(Definition of xenophobia. : “Fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign”).

A Georgia politician reports that she was being ‘attacked’ because she talked to Saudi prince who is ‘Anti-Israel’.

(In Europe, you go to jail for saying that the ‘holocaust’ never happened). Since when was stupidity illegal?) Continue reading

“One And Done?”

Will ‘The Donald’ get a second term as President?

Will the actions and decisions of President Donald Trump survive?

Polls show that the American people trust ‘The Donald’ more than any Democrats and most Republicans in Washington D.C.

One pundit said, “It seems that a lot of President Donald Trump’s policies, are likely to last longer than his critics”. Continue reading

Peace in Palestine will never happen!

The (Free) Irish have been fighting for their freedom from British occupation for a thousand years.

They don’t seem to understand Golden Rule which says “The guy with the gold rules!” and “Might Makes Right!”

Israel prefers the status quo. Seventy years of peace plans, international summits, secret negotiations, UN resolutions and state-building programs, have and will continue to fail.

The political leaders of Israel have openly stated for decades that they will never agree to a so-called  “Two-State Solution”. Continue reading

Would you read a column about the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights?
Probably not. It is interesting that anyone and everyone has an ‘opinion’ about ‘Freedom of Religion’ and ‘Freedom of Speech’ but have never bothered to read up on it. So I thought I’d take a look.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
Not that complicated – Is it?

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”. That seems simple enough. But, for whatever reason, the US Supreme Court claims it to mean that the government can OUTLAW religion.

This contradicts the next line “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. Why then cannot our children pray in school? Why can’t our local Commission Meetings, or any group meeting, start with an invocation?

-Next line says, “or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press”. Doesn’t that mean that you can write or say what you want to, wherever you want to, whenever you want to?

-If an American Citizen wants to say a prayer here, there or anywhere, why is it any business of the government?

-Next line says, “or the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” Doesn’t that mean that the police should not attack an individual, a group or a crowd who are walking down the street with a bunch of dumb signs claiming their ‘rights’? Stupidity isn’t illegal. If it was, most of our Congress and Senate would be in jail!

“and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”– That means only that American Citizens can legally ‘Petition-The-Government’ BUT, the government is not obligated to listen.

Their answer is, ‘next election’ But, that doesn’t work either, because the new candidates turn out to be as crooked as the ones just voted out.

Apparently, when the First Amendment was drafted, it applied only to the U.S. Congress and not State and Local Governments. Then, in 1940, the US Supreme Court used the Fourteenth Amendment, (The Free Exercise Clause) to override States Rights. Continue reading

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” — Proposed Virginia Constitution, 1776.

“The Second Amendment is really about state militias being strong enough to resist any attempt by the Federal government to destroy us. Reading the debates and legal wranglings from the time of the Constitution’s drafting makes this very clear.

Last month (March 2018) we talked about ‘The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution’ which says.”A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Seems simple enough, but, apparently, there are as many opinions as to its meaning as there are people who have read it. (And, of course plenty who have never read it, but they have an opinion anyway. Continue reading

“The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution”.

It was pseudo-celebrity, ‘Joe the Plumber’ who once wrote, “Your Dead Kids, don’t Trump my Constitutional Rights!”

The 17 murders at a school in Florida has started another barrage of hysteria in the media.

It’s about a year since a gunman executed 49 people and wounded 53 others in Orlando.

The Columbine shooting at a Colorado high school was back in 1999.

In Northern California a gunman killed four people and injured three children. Continue reading

Is the USA a ‘democracy’ or not?

One definition reads “A true ‘democracy’ is government by-the-people. But the United States is a ‘Representative’ democracy. The citizens elect representatives such as the president, members of congress, and senators. As I see it, neither system works for long. Government ‘by-the-people’ deteriorates into ‘mob rule’, because, in practice, there is no government.

For example, the ‘free’ countries of the ‘civilized’ world, removed Libyan dictator Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi. ‘The People’ were then free to choose their own, new leadership. The result? – Uncontrolled chaos! Continue reading
